A Glittering New Years Eve with Claws Up

Contains Press Samples from SquareHue

I was talking to my girl Jacquie (Claws Up) on Snapchat one day (auttyw) and somehow we got on the topic of doing twin-nails for New Years Eve. Heck yes! I was so excited! We finally decided on a design and cue the existence of trying to find the perfect polishes to use. Then cue the stress of oh my polish gods, how am I going to do this dang cup?! Thank goodness for Google Images, you don't even want to know what the OG design looked liked! Calling it a mess was an understatement! I have no shame in admitting the fact that I worked on this way longer than I should have (almost three days) as well as I used the most ridiculous amount of nail polishes!

Lets back up a little bit and just explain what I went through. I had the design down packed and they looked awesome! ...Or well, my opinion of awesome, then it came to top coat them! Y'all know we need that extra shininess in our lives! Cue the huge sighs and freaking out, my top coat made the tips of my nails cloudy! I've had it happen before, but another thin coat fixed it right up! Not this time though, it made it worse! So, I had to go back and fix it and just....added even more polishes to try and cover up the fact that the top coat messed them up!

The freak out and stress aside, I'm actually really pleased with how these look and I can't wait to see how Jacquie's turned out! I'm really glad that we did these together! We are going to have another post together, but of course, I still need to work on it! It's not going to be that difficult though! I love doing collab posts, even though they are few and far between.

Mad props to you Jaq for listening to me freak out because I couldn't find the polishes and that I changed a setting on my camera and the OG pictures were messed up and just no bueno! You are seriously my best frand! I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for you girl!

I've got two pictures for you! One with and one without the flash! Enjoy my Glitter New Years Eve Nails!

They aren't perfect but you know what...nail art is not my jam and for a n00b, I think they are nice. :)

Cult Nails Dotticure

Yaaaaassss, it's been a while since I've done a Cult Nails NOTD.
This manicure focuses on most of the polishes from the Deceptive collection from October 2012. I kind of wanted to attempt to make it look like the color drop nails that Cristina from Let Them Have Polish did ages ago, but as you can see, it just didn't happen. I didn't do mine the way she suggested because I simply did not have the patience to wait to long. SO, I decided to dot it up. I'm not 100% happy with this look, however it does remind me of Mardi Gras. SO I guess that's something.
Ahhhhh yeeeeees
So the only polish that I'm missing from the collection is Charlatan, unfortunately I don't have it and wont be able to get it. *sniffles*

Polishes Use:
Wet n Wild Black Creme
Cult Nails Two Timer
Cult Nails Doppelganger
Cult Nails Alter Ego
Cult Nails Deception
FingerPaints Endless Wear Top Coat.

So what do you think? I'm still not 100% happy, usually nail looks grow on me as I type posts up or as I stare at the pictures, but it's just not happening. Maybe I'll try it again and see what we get!

The Beauty Buffs -Cult Nails Dotticure!

Hello everyone! I know, I know, this post should have been live hours ago! Boo on me for sure..

Anyways! I know I've missed a few Beauty Buffs posts, as well as quite a few other things, but this isn't the post for that. I fail greatly at doing dots, even with dotting tools! I think this mani came out a lot better than it was intended too!! Also, this was probably my fourth try because it kept going horrible wrong! ...or the polish smeared on me..

For this mani, I went with all Cult Nails polishes... why you may ask? They're the polishes that I have on hand, because I'm labelling them.. so why not just use them! Plus, if you've never tried Cult Nails, you definitely need to get on the ball because they're amazing!

For my base I used Nevermore. It only took ONE coat to get complete coverage.
Ontop of Nevermore I used Mayhem because I wanted to give my nails that little something extra and why not add a holographic top coat?!

There was no real science to how I placed the dots, or why I chose the colors I did. It was one of those really thought out random things. I just picked two colors that looked good together.. or well really four since I used four polishes.

On my ring finger, I mattified the entire nail, before I placed the dots down. For that I used ORLY's Matte top coat... okay so I lied a little bit when I said I used ALL Cult Nails. I would have if there was one.

For the dots I used Radiance (pink) and Grunge (army green) I really like how this turned out. Maybe I'll try and do dotticures more.
I quite like how all of the nails turned out. It was really fun to create this mani! Even though I was extremely over the whole editing process, which I'm sure you can tell. There's just no helping cuticles, and other things sometimes.  Embrace your funky looking fingers. I know I will because I just don't care what negative things people have too say anymore. :)

So what do you think? Do you like my dots or should I go back to the drawing board and try again?!

Cult Nails It's A New Day Collection

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well!!!! As a warning this post will be a bit picture heavy!!

Today for you I have Cult Nails It's A New Day collection. I purchased this during the pre-sale but it is now available to individual purchase on cultnails.com. The collection contains three polishes and if you purchased the pre-sale you received the exclusive stamping plate that came along with the collection!
You can also purchase the plate itself on the website, as well as a stamper and the scraper if you need it!

Without further adieu let's get into the post!

New Day ;; Cool Toned Yellow Creme

3-4 coats for even coverage. I had to do 2-3 thin coats and one thick coat for even coverage.  The application was a bit uneven, however the end payoff is gorgeous and worth the extra coats. On my nails, I have 3 coats. This polish doesn't completely self-level, but it's easy to work with. I didn't have any problems with this polish and I found the formula to be pretty nice.

Evolution ;; Sheer Peach Creme
The formula on this polish is the same as New Day. I needed about 4-5 coats for complete opaque coverage. I'm pretty sure it's because I have on false nails.

Falling Hard ;; Medium-Cool Toned Pink Creme
Falling Hard is a two-coater. I have two coats on my nails. The formula was AMAZING. It self-leveled, applied like buttah. Everything you want a polish to be! This is the kind of creme that Of Life And Lacquer would LOVE

The Stamping Plate;;
The plate itself is really cute, I like all of the designs on it. I was worried when I first saw the plate because it's covered in scratches. I'm not a huge stamper, so I wasn't sure if it was going to affect the quality of the image.

The image with "I joined the cult and fell in loveI had issues with. The word "love" isn't etched completely into the plate (mine at least) so it doesn't transfer at all. So it stamping "I joined the cult and fell in"
So as you can tell, the words weren't exactly easy to stamp with. love isn't cut deep enough so it doesn't transfer. At least that's how it is on my plate.
Like my fail? I thought I waited long enough for the polish to dry and it hadn't D: Hence the smearing and what not. Booo total fail.

The other images we're pretty awesome. Out of the three polishes, if you're going to stamp I would suggest using Evolution and New Day over a darker color, since they're light, they don't really show up totally. Stamping wise, Falling Hard is AWESOME and if you were to get one polish out of the bunch, get that one.

I LOVE all 3 polishes and I definitely think that Evolution and New Day are worth it for the extra coats.

You can purchase these polishes at CultNails.com
You can get the stamper & Scraper HERE and the Plate HERE

The Beauty Buffs : Yellow Saran Wrap Manicure

Hello everyone and welcome too another addition of ::

This weeks theme is none other than yellow. I was actually pretty excited about this one! Unfortunately you can tell that I kind threw it together at the last minute. These extra hours at work have been messing with my blogging mojo-jojo! (if you get the reference, you're amazing) Of course though, since it was last minute, I'm unsure of how it looks!

This was my first time doing a saran wrap mani, which is why I'm so unsure! At first I was going to do all yellow, but after I painted my nails, they just looked...less than appealing.. Not only that but I was trying a new brand.. well it's now a new brand, just the first time I tried them. After 20 minutes the polish wasn't dry so I just scrapped the entire thing!

So, here it is! In all of its excitement I guess! I'm so jealous of other people's saran wrap manicures. They always turn out looking beautiful! Mine is just meh. Murphey's Law!:P

For my Base I used L'Oreal The Queens Ambition and overtop I used Cult Nails You're My Dandy Lion

I love that you can see the glitter through the yellow, I feel that it gives the manicure that little extra something.

And just because here is my thumb. I was originally going too do a gradient, but it just didn't work out. The sponge kept lifting the black and messing with the entire look, can you tell I also fail at doing gradients?! :P I mean you can't see it here, because I pretty much sponged it off, but I love how you can see the yellow in the glitter as well as in other places.

So, will you be trying out yellow anything this summer?! Bright colors, including yellow are very in right now!

Until Next time! Don't forget to check out the other ladies and see what they did!

Cult Nails - In A Trance

Purchased Myself

I feel kind of bad showing you this polish only because you can't purchase it anymore. At the same time I don't feel bad because it is such a gorgeous polish and deserves to be shared with the world!

In A Trance is a olive green with a ton of ton of orange/red, green and yellow shimmer. This has a lighter green, almost gold undertone too it that is absolutely captivating!
The polish is shown using only TWO coats and no top coat. I can't even begin to describe too you how shiny this polish is on it's own. With this polish, you can skip the top coat 100%. the above picture is also true to color.

See how shiny it is?! You can see the lightbulb in my lamp pretty dang clearly!

The formula on this polish is pretty stellar. You only need 2-3 coats of this polish depending on then length of your nails or how thick you apply this polish. I also had minimal cleanup... actually I had almost no cleanup! This is the PERFECT consistency! It doesnt flood the cuticles and it levels out itself without having to work with it.

You KNOW I can't leave this blog post go without my side shot! :P
This has quickly become one of my favorite angles to take pictures of a polish! Only, it's a wee bit better when there isn't a light bulb covering most of the nail! :P I typically swatch during the day but work was hell and I wanted to get pictures of this polish before I did some dots over top!

I will be showing the dotticure that I did over top either later this week or next week depending on when I get to uploading the picutres!

What do you think of this polish?! I definitely think it needs to be brought back! :P *hint hint* Bahah.

NOTD Featuring Ellagee Rainbow Syrup

PR Sample/Purchased Myself

You know when you're super excited about something that you can't contain it?! Let me tell you, I'm still extremely excited over this polish!

For my base I used Venique Dominating Thigh Highs and Cult Nails Grunge for an accent.
I topped each nail with Ellagee's Rainbow Syrup. This polish is gorgeous in the bottle, but it absolutely POPS over a dark nail polish.
Look at that sexy ass linear holo. No joke, I was really bummed and actually upset when I took this off. Mind you I wore it for about 3-4 days.
Look at that Rainbow as well.
We shant even talk about what this polish makes me want to do LOL
I'm just going to leave you with this

Ellagee's Rainbow Syrup was provided as a press sample. All other polishes were purchased with my own money.

Mint Chocolate Interlocking dots

Hey everyone! I hope you are doing well!!

This manicure isn't what I originally planned but I'm totally not used too long nails and I had an insane time trying too get the striping tape straight!! I don't know how you ladies do it, seriously I applaud you all!

My base for all of my nails is Nubar Green Silver Glitter. That's across ALL nails.

I used Cult Nails Spontaneous and taped off a triangle (not a straight one you LOL) You can kind of see the pink shimmer in Spontaneous, but I think it tones down the holographic, can't keep your eyes off of your nails look of GSG.

TADA!

To create the dotticure, I first taped off the section that I wanted to paint with Nubar Jewel. After I painted the section I let it dry slightly then started doing the dots! You definitely don't have too tape off the section though I didn't with my right hand. :P #rebel I'm sure there are tutorials out there on how to create an interlocking dot mani, but I can always do a tutorial if you would like... It's really really easy.

I seriously LOVE how this turned out, it kind of reminds me of chocolate ice cream dripping... Is that weird? Did I just make you want ice cream?! :P On my ring finger I used striping tape to create the sunburst. The hardest part was to get the vertical line straight down the middle, then it was a walk in the park.
I topped the entire mani off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat

I love this mani seriously. What do you think?!

All  of the polishes were purchased by me with my own money with the exception of G&G HK Girl Topcoat.

Cult Nails Just Because

Before we get into this post, I do want to apologize for being very quiet on my blog the past week, it wasn't my intention nor was it planned. I considered getting guest bloggers, but part of me kept stopping myself from posting in a group and asking. If you're following me on my Facebook or Instagram, then you know what's going on...or well you know some of what's going on. I don't want to get into it right now but basically there was a death in the family and it's hit my family pretty hard. I'm not a very religious person and I do believe that there is some greater being out there, but I don't specifically practice, but God (whatever god you believe in) always has a plan for everything and unfortunately it was her time to go as sad as that is. I wont go into much more detail than that, but since I'm now crying let's get into the actual post shall we?

Purchased Myself

I know that I should feel really bad showing you a polish that you can't get, while a part of me does, another part of me doesn't. That's mean of me to say! D:

Just Because was a polish that was never meant to be sold. Originally it was just given out to a few people then late last year Maria decided to add it too orders then put it up for sale! I had to wait until I started working before I could buy it. As soon as the Cult Nail's Crypt sale started and I saw Just Because still in stock, I jumped on it quicker then a fly on poo. Let me tell you, I am so glad I did! Just Because is so gorgeous! I wish I had a backup bottle!

Just Because is a red polish (kind of like a jelly I guess) PACKED full of glitter!

You can get away with 2 coats if you had shorter nails, but if you have longer ones (like pictured) you will need 3 or more coats. In my pictures I only did 2 coats, which is why it's not fully opaque. Both nail swatches were taken in the shade.

Did you get Just Because?!?!

Oh! Don't get all excited, yes this is my hand but I put on fake nails. I have some polishes to swatch and I didn't want them to look crappy because my nails are all different shapes and lengths. I did this for some uniformity, plus hello they look amazing right?!

I purchased this polish with my own money.
