The Beauty Buffs : Gold vs Silver

I know, I know my post is going up way later then expected....well a few hours late. At least I'm getting it one! That's a plus! :P

This weeks theme is Gold vs Silver. I had completely redonk manicure that I wanted to do, unfortunately for me the couple of gold polishes I have are metallic...you know the ones I'm talking about. The ones that show every. single. brushstroke and look absolutely hideous when top coated! Yeah, those I really need new gold polishes! Anyways, the finished manicure looked gross. So, I went with my old standard...an eye look.

Now I like both colors, gold and silver and I just couldn't pit themselves against each other!.. Okay actually I couldn't think of a good way to pit the two colors against each other! Sue me :P  I decided to pair them together and I'm actually pretty dang pleased with how they it turned out. Somehow my camera's settings got all befuddled and the full face shot was garbage, everything was washed out.

I used dark brown eye shadow to slightly blend out the gold a bit and to give it a bit more..something else. You can skip this if you want!

The Beauty Buffs : Holiday Looks

Hello everyone! Welcome to another bi-weekly post of The Beauty Buffs!

As a warning, this is a really long post.
This week I'm pretty excited! It's all themed around Holiday looks!  What I decided to do was touch on each of the three Holiday's that are going to be happening this December! Christmas (12/15), Kwanzaa (12/26-01/01/15) and Hanukkah (12/16-12/24) Why did I chose to do three? Well, isn't it kind of obvious? More than Christmas goes on in December, plus it could be a good learning lesson. Plus, it could be really fun to learn a little something about each of the three! One little known thing about me is that I LOVE History and really, I love learning about customs and things that I normally wouldn't know about. All of the eye looks are BASED off of colors from each Holiday. 

First up Christmas : An annual religious and cultural holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ,celebrated generally on December 25 by billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the  Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide, which ends after the twelfth night. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated culturally by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season.

Christmas is a season that I think pretty much most of the world celebrates. For most people unfortunately it's turned into all about getting gifts instead of just spending time with family. In my family this year we actually wont be getting gifts for each other, we only plan on getting gifts for my Niece and Nephew. For Christmas I decided to not stick with the traditional red and green but to take my inspiration from that song by Burl Ives called (what else) Silver & Gold. Every Christmas this song gets stuck in my head without fail. I also must give a shout out to Jacqueline from A Brilliant Brunette because she helped me settle on doing something with silver and gold. Now I also added in some brown and green as I'm sure you can tell. I wish my silver would have been more bright but it looks kind of muddy. Boo.

Kwanzaa : A week-long celebration held in the United States and also celebrated in the Western African Diaspora in other nations of the Americas. The celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving.

I've looked at a lot of Websites about Kwanzaa and everything is very tribal and very traditional. The focus is on the lighting of the Candles (3 red, 1 black, 3 green). Those three colors are what I am going to mainly focus on. I personally feel like Kwanzaa is a very lesser known holiday, and really it's something I would LOVE to learn more about! I decided to go dark with the shadows, I didn't want it to be bright or it would have been too "Christmassy".

 Hanukkah : also known as the Festival of Lights, Feast of Dedication, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire of the 2nd century BC. Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar.

Hanukkah is a Holiday that has ALWAYS interested me, probably because of my Mother. Little known fact my Grandfather was born into a Jewish household and was put up for adoption and was later adopted by an Italian family. My last name would have been Jobe if his parents wouldn't have given him up! We actually used to play with Dreidels when we were kids. One of these years I will celebrate Hanukkah. For this look I will be focusing on Blue and White, since that is what is mostly associated with the Holiday. I decided to go with no eyeliner because I felt like it could have been too much. I wanted this look to be simple and be the main focus.

Now, with all of those looks aside, you're going to need an eye look for all of your Holiday parties! I chose to do Gold and a darkened Cranberry because those two colors goes together so beautifully. Unfortunately I don't have a full shot with both eyes, I'm not sure where that picture went! I think out of all of the looks, this has to be my favorite, there is just something about it that I absolutely love!

The Beauty Buffs : Vincent Longo La Fiera Meta Gloss

So, this post posted earlier without it being fully done and that was a my bad. I totally forgot to finish this because I got sick. I do hope that those who saw this post before it was completed, looked into the gloss! xox

I am so excited because this weeks The Beauty Buffs Post is all about metallic! I love me some metallic colors! I was really excited when I got this product in the swag bag from The Makeup Show (I'm either going to do a post or a video when I'm feeling better about the Blogger Preview and bag at a later date) When I saw this gloss I knew I had to use it for this post! I had this awesome look in mind, but alas, when you're sick you don't want to put on makeup. I don't think ya'll want to see a runny nose and I may or may not have split my lip sneezing. (don't judge)

I feel kind of bad because I have all of these gorgeous shot of the product packaging but not of the product itself. You know when you're sick and you just don't have the gumption? This is one of those moments, I didn't want to do lip swatches because I didn't want to contaminate the gloss with gross germs.

The Beauty Buffs : Neutrals

Hello Everyone! I hope you all are doing well! :D

Todays post is all about Neutrals! I'm doing kind of a two-part post with nails and makeup. Now I was going to do a completely new makeup look, but then I decided..I've done plenty on my blog in the past, or I've posted quite a few on Instagram in the recent months...Why not just link back to a few of my favorite neutral makeup looks from the past?!

We will start with the nails first. Now, I was going to actually use my NATURAL nails for this post...and then 2/4 nails broke on the hand I was planning on using and I'm being stubborn and not wanting to cut the other two nails and I knew it would look pretty damn tacky. SO, alas...fake nails it was. I just used some of those old school stickers to stick the nails too my natural nails instead of using glue like normal.

Taking these pictures were kind of very awkward for me to take because I usually use my left hand for nail pictures but for this I opted for my right hand, since I wanted a bit more control with the dots being that I am left handed...I think I'll stick to photographing my left hand! :P

I was trying to be one of those cool people who take nice pictures with their pets fur in the background. Can you tell that with it being blurry..Anya was not amused?! She thought I was taking pictures of her and was so not in the mood and kept moving on me. Booo kitty boo.

The Beauty Buffs : Fall Themed

I know, I've not done a Beauty Buffs post in quite a while, to be completely honest with you, I am greatly surprised that I've not been kicked out of the group. I tried to do the last post, but EVER-SINGLE-LOOK I did came out in a total fail and I just gave up.

Now, This weeks theme is Fall Themed...you just know that I had to do something. Fall is my season..get it Autumn...Fall... *nods* yeahhh. Tis all mine! >D Kidding kidding. I seriously do love fall, hello my Wedding..Fall Themed...My wedding Dress...Kind of fall themed. The season itself just makes me happier. SO, I decided to do an eye look using two of BFTE (Beauty From The Earth) Cosmetics Pumpkin EVERYTHING! Collection.

So, I'm going to admit right here, I completely forgot mascara. I'm probably the only person who forgets to put their mascara more than they'd care to admit when doing their makeup. I know the pictures are a little out of focus, and the eyeliner is kind of skippy and not perfect. D: Can you tell that I'm not used to taking pictures!

I'm going to apologize right now for not having a full face shot. I changed my hair color drastically and I did not like a single full-faced picture that I took. Booo.
I'll have a full review of BFTE's Pumpkin EVERYTHING! Collection up on the blog soon, so you all can see what all of the shadows look like! I'm very excited for them!

The Beauty Buffs -Cult Nails Dotticure!

Hello everyone! I know, I know, this post should have been live hours ago! Boo on me for sure..

Anyways! I know I've missed a few Beauty Buffs posts, as well as quite a few other things, but this isn't the post for that. I fail greatly at doing dots, even with dotting tools! I think this mani came out a lot better than it was intended too!! Also, this was probably my fourth try because it kept going horrible wrong! ...or the polish smeared on me..

For this mani, I went with all Cult Nails polishes... why you may ask? They're the polishes that I have on hand, because I'm labelling them.. so why not just use them! Plus, if you've never tried Cult Nails, you definitely need to get on the ball because they're amazing!

For my base I used Nevermore. It only took ONE coat to get complete coverage.
Ontop of Nevermore I used Mayhem because I wanted to give my nails that little something extra and why not add a holographic top coat?!

There was no real science to how I placed the dots, or why I chose the colors I did. It was one of those really thought out random things. I just picked two colors that looked good together.. or well really four since I used four polishes.

On my ring finger, I mattified the entire nail, before I placed the dots down. For that I used ORLY's Matte top coat... okay so I lied a little bit when I said I used ALL Cult Nails. I would have if there was one.

For the dots I used Radiance (pink) and Grunge (army green) I really like how this turned out. Maybe I'll try and do dotticures more.

I quite like how all of the nails turned out. It was really fun to create this mani! Even though I was extremely over the whole editing process, which I'm sure you can tell. There's just no helping cuticles, and other things sometimes.  Embrace your funky looking fingers. I know I will because I just don't care what negative things people have too say anymore. :)

So what do you think? Do you like my dots or should I go back to the drawing board and try again?!

The Beauty Buffs : Neon!

Hello everyone!

Shame on me for getting this up so late! My work schedule has screwed so much up that it is not even funny! I do plan on making it up though with a couple more giveaways! But first! Let's get into this weeks theme for The Beauty Buffs!


I did TWO looks for TBB, and neither of them turned out as good as I was hoping. Booo. That's what happnes when you try to do your nails at 3am after working all day! :P To me, they look like a clown puked horribly on my nails. Yeah, like that image? I'm chock full of more of them! :P (kidding)

On a more serious note. I did actually try really hard with these, which is why there is two different ones, but they just didn't turn out the way I pictured. Honestly, I wound up giving up which is something you should never do! Don't ever give up on anything!

Now we all know the internal struggle with photographing neons, they're a pain. Plain and simple. My camera went NUTS trying to capture the colors. Just wow. Also, don't even ask why there is a random owl. I wanted to use one of the images from the Cult Nails plate that I have but of course, it's missing. Murphey's Law.

See what i mean about how they just look yucky. Apparently I don't have any pictures left of my original manicure, but rest assure, it was similar.. kind of because it included dots. I should have fairy dusted it! :P

The Beauty Buffs - Radiant Orchid Eye Look

Hello my loves!

I hope your week is going swimmingly! I welcome you all back to another installment of The Beauty Buffs!! I hope you all are LOVING these as much as I am loving doing them for you all! The prompts each post have really kept challenging me and it's re-awakening my love of blogging! I've got a lot of lovely stuff planned in the upcoming weeks! But all of that aside, let's get crack-a-lackin'!

I created this look, oh goodness a month ago?! It was the first time I used the Wet n Wild Flirting At The After Party palette that I had gotten from my Hobby Polish Bloggers Swap buddy. To be honest, I wasn't sure WHEN I was going to upload this, but I figured this would be the perfect time to use it!
