Peacock! Eye look!

Hello my dears!

This post has been sitting un-written for well over a month! Can you believe it?! such a shame right?! I wore this look to work, and you will not believe the amount of funky looks I got that day. I mean, really now?! Do people not believe in colored eyeshadow?! It must be such a strange thing. *eye roll*

ANYWAYS, I shall keep trucking on, wearing my bright and colorful eye shadows! Now, I am a wee-bit fuzzy on a couple of products that I used... okay I'm fuzzy on one product. I had everything written down.. or typed actually on wordpad and my computer crashed before I could put it into the post. Failzor! :O

Someone told me that this reminded them of a Peacock! What does it remind you of?!

Any-piddle

Products Used:
Primer ; Urban Decay Primer Potion
Eyeshadow(s) ; Sugarpill Acidberry & Velocity
Eyeliner ; Milani Eye Tech Extreme - Black
Mascara ; Ellis Faas
I really love wearing Acidberry and Velocity together. They really compliment each other!
What do you think?! Is this a combination you would ever try?!

A couple eye looks!

Hello and welcome to today's unconventional post!

Every time I do my makeup, I try to get a few pictures of it, so I can use it for a blog post, most times I fail greatly at getting pictures that can be used. However, I did manage to get a couple of decent pictures to show you all the makeup that I've worn! I try to make it a goal to wear makeup to work but sometimes, I'm either way too tired or I just don't feel like taking the time to apply it.
For the above looked I used;;
Wet n Wild Flirting At The After Party
Sugarpill - 2AM
Milani Extreme Eye Tech Liner
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner - Demolition
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Mascara

I used the two darkest shadows as well as 2AM in the crease. I also used the lavender shadow (3rd shadow on the left) all over the lid

This is the makeup that I wore on mothers day. I wish I could have photographed this better because I quite like how it turned out.

What I used;
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Whip Hand Cosmetics Pure Pigment - Rocket (crease)
Sugarpill Cosmetics - Asylum (lid)
Cara Pigment - Dakota Glimmer (inner corner)**
Milani Extreme Eye Tech Liner
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Liner - Perversion
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Mascara
Essence All Eyes On Me Mascara
Senna Cosmetics Brow X
I feel like I have angry-brows. I really need to get them shaped because they're bothering the heck out of me. That shall be my goal for the next week or something. To get my caterpillars done! Woo! I'm going to try harder to get decent pictures of my makeup though! Instead of sitting and trying to use flash or just the one light. :P I'm such a lazy bones. But alas I hope yo all are doing well!

Oh! I ended up having to return the Stila and Essence mascaras unfortunately. They both burn my eyes really bad, so instead of trying to suffer and itch my eyes, I just took them back. Plus, I wasn't greatly impressed by either mascara, especially that Stila one, it was full o fail.

Mehron INtense Pro Pressed Powder Pigment - Mountain Moss

Press Sample

To continue on with the green trend, I thought it would be fun to review a green eye shadow! This review should have been up months ago, but long story short. I'm just getting to it. I got this Mehron shadow in the goodie bag from the Blogger Preview of The Makeup Show. (can I say the any more?!) After first, I was disappointed with this shadow and then I tried it again and was really surprised!

Mountain Moss is a cool toned matte mossy green.
Please excuse the fact that there is already brush marks in it. I photographed it back in September or October, but with my new camera I decided to take new ones. I also decided to swatch the shadow 3 ways, alone, over primer and foiled. Now, we all know how I roll so each swatch is ONE swipe straight down the length of the pan.
With no primer, you can tell that the pigmentation is a bit poor, it also applied a bit unevenly.
I used Urban Decay Primer Potion because I couldn't find my Milani primer at the time of swatching. As you can tell, the pigmentation is a lot better! To foil the shadow (bottom) I used Graftobians Magic Set Lining Liquid. LOOK at that pigmentation.

With this shadow you can keep it light by blending it out or build it up dark in the crease. This does make a good shadow for a green smokey eye!

You can purchase this shadow on Mehron.com it retails for $9.95 for 3g of product.

Revlon ColorStay Shadow Links Plum & Lilac

Purchased Myself

I've seen the display for these shadows every time I walk into Walgreens and normally I just pass on them. I've not really heard any buzz or actually really anything about these shadows. In fact I've had ONE blog post about them come across my computer, that is IT! On Christmas I decided to pick up a couple of these and for $2.99 you can't really pass them up in good conscious anyways. The Cashier compared these to the Urban Decay build your own palettes, I'm no sure if she was talking about because you can create your own "palette" or quality wise. I told her we would see how these held up against UD.

Lilac is just that, a lilac with fine silver glitter in it.

New Years Eve Makeup!

Purchased Myself | PR Sample

Here's the rest of the post! I was going to put this and the nails together, but I decided to split them up.
I'm still trying to get used too my camera, plus I had the light WAY too close to my face. Lol. Amateur mistake.

I don't know about anyone else, but wearing silver on my eyes for New Years Eve is a staple and traditional thing for me to do. I wear silver and black EVERY year, this year I decided to change it up though.

This was pre-mascara. I started taking pictures and realized I didn't have it on. Fail #2

EYES;;
Milani eye shadow primer
Revlon ColorStay ShadowLinks Plum (Crease)
Urban Decay; Busted (crease)
                                Naked/Foxy (blending colors)
Sugarpill Tiara (lid)
Milani Eye Tech Extreme Blackest Black
Graftobian Magic Set Mixing & Lining Liquid
Rimmel MAX VolumeFlash Extreme Black

FACE;;
TEMPTU AirPod Foundation Sand
TEMPTU Pro S/B Concealer Wheel 4th Darkest
Rimmel Stay Matte 011 Natural
NYX Blush Sand
Urban Decay Shakedown (contour)

I didn't do a lip color. I typically don't, I didn't really feel the need for one since we're not doing anything.

There's a reason I decided to show this picture even though it's mostly blurry. I love that is macro'd on my lashes. Uhm yes, love that!
I don't normally do cat eyes, but I'm really impressed with this one. I know they're a bit lopsided and what not, but I think it came out looking really nice!

What makeup are you wearing for New Years Eve!?!? I would LOVE to know and see it!

Disclaimer: The TEMPTU and Graftobian products were provided for PR. The rest was purchased with my own money.

Z-Palette Dome

Purchased Myself

Heya everyone!!
I have no excuses, for why I've not blogged, so let's just jump right into this!

This palette was designed to be deep enough to fit mineralized and baked eye shadows or blushes. I purchased this at The Makeup Show, it was actually the second thing I purchased. It would have been the first but they were busy. :P It's all good though! I have been wanting one for so long and I'm so happy that I finally have one!

At first I depotted my Urban Decay BoS IV. Why? Because it was a complete pain in the tush to use, I never could get the drawer out so this was the opportune time to depot it. I also depotted my Naked palettes that way I could have them all in one place..ontop of that, the shadows in my N2 palette kept popping out. Annoying? Very much so.

Between the 3 palettes there are 40 shadows in this palette and there is still room for more! The one thing I like about the Urban Decay pans is that they are metal, which means they are magnetized and actually stay in the palette. I'm impressed on how many shadows are currently in the Z-Palette and that there is still room left for more! I like that they're all in one place so I don't have to keep shuffling palettes around to find shadows.

This palette and any Z-Palette for that matter are SO worth the money! Not only are they ideal for makeup artists who have a lot of eye shadows but they are also ideal for the every day consumer who wants to keep their makeup more organized. I definitely feel more organized with this palette and it's much easier to find the shadows that I want. I do see myself needing a couple of more palettes though!

The Dome Palette retails for $25. You can purchase it HERE.
The other Z-Palettes retail from $14 for the small ones and $25 for the Pro/Dome Palettes. Regardless of what size you need these are an amazing value! Just think of the amount of space you can open up.
Do remember that non-metal pans like MAC for example don't stick so you will need the metal stickers that now come with the palettes when you purchase one. You can also purchase extra ones if you need them as well!

I did try the stickers that came with my palette and I'm not sure if I got defective ones or what but mine wouldn't stick to some of the non-metal pans that I had.

Do you have a Z-Palette?! Do you want one?! Let me know what you think of them!

Ipsy March 2013 : The Great Escape

Hello Hello!

This months bag was exciting for me. Mostly because it was nautical themed. I grew up on boats and on the water, so the actual bag spoke to me and made me happy. The contents of the bag however, I'm content with them. I'll explain in a minuto.

The first thing in the bag is the Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist.

This isn't full sized, but it is still pretty damn big for a sample. This is 1 fl. oz and the full size is 6.75 fl. oz. This does have a floral, kind of grannyish scent to it and honestly, I don't think I can use it. While I'm not allergic to Rose's, I have a problem with rose scented products. Only because it really messes with my nose. Allergy wise it doesn't bother me, but this is strong enough that it could potentially set off a reaction. While it has a lot of good ingredients in it, myself personally am too afraid to try it. Shame :(

Yaby eye shadow refill in Azalea Petal & Seashell.

While I was excited to try these Yaby shadows, I can tell you that I was highly disappointed. You may remember a few months ago when I talked about the Balm Meet Matt(e) shadow that I got had fingerprints in it like someone swatched it then put it in the bag anyways. Well, my Yaby Azalea Petal had been opened, there were gouges in the shadow and someone had stuck their finger in it. Then tried to seal it back up to make it look unopened. I did contact Ipsy and they offered to send me a replacement and I honestly just don't want it. This is the second product I've received from them that was used. I know you can't really tell in the picture. My camera is not wanting to cooperate at the present moment :(.
Seashell I've not tried either, I did try and swatch it and it wasn't that pigmented. It can be a good thing. You can get a slight highlight or what not without it looking gawdy. So far, I'm not impressed with Yaby. I'm going to see if I can try a few more of their shadows and make my final decision then.

LA Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Towelettes.

I've never tried LA Fresh products before, I mean I have ONE towelette that I got from Beauty Army so many months ago, but I've not used it yet honestly. Shame on me I know. I am excited to try these though because you can never have too many makeup towelettes!

Glam RX Mini Freestyle Palette

This is what I was the MOST excited about. I've been wanting to try Z Palettes out but haven't had the extra money to order them, so I'm pretty excited about this. It's a little bigger than a business card, so it is perfect for travel. It has a nice sized mirror and is magnetized. So glad to have this!

That was this months bag. For me, not so exciting. I'm probably going to take the Juice Beauty mist to the CFbeauty bloggers meetup this weekend. I'm sure someone will be able to use it :) What did you think of this months bag?!

Disclaimer: I purchased the MyGlam bag with my own money. All products were inside of the bag. I am not affiliated with any of the above mentioned companies, nor am I being compensated to talk about this.

Ipsy February 2013

Hello hello!

This months Ipsy bag was not that exciting to me honestly, I was most excited about one product. I know a lot of people went crazy over it, I just.. well I don't know, it was a bit of a miss for me. But at the same time, that's just my opinion!!

The one thing I was excited about was the Pop Beauty Smoky Lash Kapow!!!
Like I said in my YouTube video about it, I'm a mascara junkie. I have a small stash of mascara.. well it's small now. I don't like being without mascara so I always tend to buy a bunch when I have the extra money and they are on sale! I'm excited to use this! It's next on my list! :P

Pixi Flawless & Poreless Primer
Lately I have to be really careful on what I put on my face, so I am not sure when I will get around to using this. I have a few other face primers that I want to use up first.

Lash Card
Am I the only one that thinks products like this are useless? Yes, it will be perfect for someone who is new into makeup or isn't that good at applying mascara, but myself personally, I feel that this is a waste of cardstock. Use a business card, it's free.

Coastal Scents Sample Trio in In The Spotlight
I REALLY want to try more from Coastal Scents. I've not really used their other quad that was sent a few months ago, but I think that the top left, bottom left and bottom right colors will be used a lot. At least for me. The yellow wont look so good on my skin tone in my opinion.

Mica Beauty Cosmetics Cream(or gel) Liner
I'm not quite sure if this is a gel or a cream liner. It looks like a cream liner to me, but there are no other stickers or labels on it besides the cap. I can tell you that it is in black. That's really all I can say about it.
This I plan on sending to CookieFarrer, she was supposed to get this months bag and was excited for this but Ipsy stiffed her out of a month that she payed for when she got the year subscription. I'm more of a liquid liner girl anyways :P

So that was the contents of this months bag!
Sorry about the horrid picture of the bag, it was like 12am when I took this, hence the light. I meant to retake the picture but it slipped my mind. For anyone else, did this bag remind you of the PVC/Latex body suits that they use for naughty stuff? I asked multiple people and they ALL said the same thing. Nuff said. I can't remember the actual name of the plastic that they used, but the outside is definitely going to be easy to clean.
When you open the bag its BAM red. Kind of like Christian Louboutins. The sleep black pump with that sexy red sole that every girl lusts over. 'nough said.

Swagger Cosmetics vs. Volturi Twilight - Loose Shadows

As soon as I saw Red Bone in my box from Wantable.co , it instantly reminded me of Volturi Dusk.
(Yes, before you judge this is an eye shadow that is based from Twilight.. I was a HUGE Twilight fan until I saw the first movie.. loved it at first, then it started to depress me. I still love the books, but not the movies. I've not even seen the rest of them.)
Anyways.. These two are extremely similar. .. .

Red Bone is a deep maroon with gold and a slight pinkish undertone. The gold undertone is more prominent in Red Bone. This also has more silver sparkles.

Dusk is the same Deep maroon but the pink/purple undertones are definitely more prominent then Red Bone.

I really love both of these shadows...but there is no real need to have both. You can still purchase Dusk even though I got mine years ago (like when the twilight movies first came out). You can purchase Dusk on Amazon and even on the Twilight Beauty website. (yes there is actually makeup and such based off the movies -_-) You can purchase Red Bone on the Swagger Cosmetics website

Volturi Dusk is $9.00 USD
Swagger Cosmetics Red Bone is $9.50

I can't say that I prefer one over the other. They are both perfect for a gorgeous smokey eye. Both are absolutely gorgeous if you wanted to do a dark and sexy eye look, or even just to wear just because.. I do that a lot is wear it just because.. :D You could really even take a wet eyeliner brush and use them as eyeliners. Absolutely gorgeous!

Do you have either of these shadows? What is your opinion of them?!

Signature 2

Disclaimer: I purchased Volturi Dusk with my own money back in 2011. Swagger Cosmetics Red Bone I received in my wantable.co box which was a PR sample. That does not affect my opinion on either of these products at all. All opinions are still my own.

Battle of the Matte Reds!

Hello everyone!

In my SauceBox Cosmetics post, I told you that I was going to be comparing Sugarpills Love+ to Saucebox's Russian Rouge.

Both of these shadows are a TRUE red and matte as well! It is hard to find a GOOD red eye shadow, let alone a good matte eye shadow.

I purchased Love+ back when Sugarpill launched their boutique on Beautylish and have been in love ever since. When I saw that Russian Rouge and Love+ were practically dupes, I had to see for myself. I couldn't help but order Russian Rouge from SauceBox.. It was even better because I used a code from BellaShoot and got 15% off. Unfortunately that code expired, but I am sure that there will be another soon.

(Quick side note, does anyone else have to listen to a specific genre of music when they are blogging? I ALWAYS work better when I listen to a specific genre.. no lie.. okay back to the original post)

Sugarpill's Love+ is $12 for 4grams of product. That is a LOT of product.

SauceBox's Russian Rouge is currently on sale for $6 and.. well I am not sure how much product is in it because neither the website nor the packaging say how much shadow you get. I wish it did. Tis life.

These two shadows look like they are EXACT dupes of each other in the pan.

The only real in pan difference is that Russian Rouge appears darker.. in my picture of Love+, I am not sure why it is showing up orange toned, I can assure you that it is not.

I do want to say that I am the kind of person who does not like to pack on shadow when swatching. This is TWO swipes across the shadow. Also, I forgot to mark this, but these are swatched WITH and WITHOUT primer. Just imagine a line in the middle .. you can find of tell where the primer is anyways and where it is not. Bah

An up closer version of the same swatch, once again please imagine a line across the middle of these two shadows. I am a fool for forgetting it. Forgive me? :(

As you can tell in the swatches, Russian Rouge is more pigmented and brighter then Love+.  They are both richly pigmented, but Love+ also applies a bit splotchy where as Russian rouge goes on smoothly. As for the texture of these two shadows, they feel the same essentially. They are soft, but not silky soft. They feel a bit rough when swatching with your fingers, but you don't notice it when you use a brush.

There is only minor staining with both shadows, considering the amount of pigment you need to make a red eye shadow, it doesn't bother me. All you need is a little extra makeup remover and you are good to go. There is only a slight tint left over, but if you don't know it is there, you wont notice it. :)

In my opinion, out of the two of these, I think Russian Rouge wins the battle. I'm sorry Love+  :( I love you, but Russian Rouge is more pigmented in this case. It is also cheaper being on sale for $6.

You could definitely use both of these eye shadows wet, it would make them brighter and the pigment look even more amazing! :P I do know that if you pack on Love+ it looks amazing, but for two swiping and going on your way, I prefer Russian Rouge.

What is your opinion of the two shadows?!

You can check Russian Rouge out HERE
