Tip Tuesday : Getting Love Bugs Off Of A Windshield

Okay, so here in Florida around June the Love Bugs come out in full force, does this happen anywhere else?! Seriously, are love bugs anywhere else besides Florida? I'm not trying to sound stupid, I am being honest because I've never seen them anywhere else. Then again I've only ever been in Tennessee twice and drove through a few other states and have never seen them.

Those little hellians are the most annoying this come summer time. They can be interesting and all of that, but they cause a lot of concerns and pain when its Love Bug season. They can cause excessive clogging of vehicle radiator air passages with the bodies of the adults, with the reduction of the cooling effect on engines. The worst part is the  obstruction of windshields when the remains of the adults and egg masses are smeared on the glass. That in my opinion is the WORST because if you don't get them off quickly and you just let them sit on your windshield or on your car, their "fluids" can actually eat away at your paint and are hard as heck to get off windshields.

So, how do you get on of these little buggers off of your windshied?! Easy, a Dryer Sheet. Simple as that. You can use a used on or a new one and just run it over the windshield or anywhere else you have bugs and they come off easy peasy.  I wish I would have known this way long ago, when I used to rush to wash my car so I could get them off! Aargh!

If you suffer from Love Bugs dying on your windshield and you want an easy solution to get them off without scrubbing your vehicle, try this out and let me know how you like it!

Tip Tuesday: Cleaning Up A Dropped Egg On The Floor

So, I actually never knew this until Chris told me about it, shortly after we got together years ago.

Have you ever dropped an egg on the floor? I'm sure you have! I know I have, they are a pain to clean up!!

This tip is really simple. All you need to do is pour salt over the egg and let it sit for 10 minutes at the most. Sounds weird right?! But it works!  When you cover the egg in salt, make sure you sprinkle some at least a half inch around the outside of the egg.

Why?

Well, the egg will start to solidify because of the salt. When this happens, the egg will start to pull in on itself and the extra salt around the edge of it will be pulled in with the egg.

Make sure you let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes though!

I know its kinda weird to think about but hey, I would rather do this then have to use a dish towel or a ton of paper towels to clean up the egg! Simple and easy is the best way!!

This is my tip for this Tuesday! Have you tried or ever heard of this before?! Its kind of unusual!

I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Microwaving a bar of Ivory Bar Soap

Oh my goodness y'all!! I am having a serious child moment right now.

So, I saw something about microwaving a bar of Ivory soap. I literally did this face o_O the fudge?! Yeah probably wont ever do that! I don't use bar soaps, they dry my skin out like crazy. Cue lizard skin. :P

When I got my VoxBox and this was inside of it, I was like :O SO GOING TO TRY THAT NOW! I was having a nerd moment. Granted it took me a week or two to get around to it, but hey, I did it, didn't I?! :P

Anyways so what you do is you take your bar of Ivory Bar Soap and you put it on  a microwave safe plate or dish, I chose the container it was in because 1) microwave safe & 2) I can just put a lid on it and send it over to my parents house for them to use. Easy peasy right?!

Well, the best part is watching it in the microwave. I literally was like a little kid (no shame) watching it expand. I literally doing a little dance and calling Chris over to come watch it! You can microwave this from 90 second to 6 minutes. It really wont hurt it if you microwave it for 6 minutes, it just wont grow anymore. You will be able to tell when to stop it because it wont be growing anymore. I did mine for 90 seconds.

Now, I was going to make a video of it expanding in the microwave, but you couldn't see what was going on with the screen on the front of the microwave. :(

This is a really fun thing to do honestly! My nephew will love this! Any child would! Its a really neat thing to do with kids for sure!

Now you can still use this after its been microwaved, and in reality since its expanded, you have more of it and if you use it in the shower, you wont use as much and go through the bar as quickly! So a double plus there! Fun for the kids and economical! <3

You can use Ivory many different ways. You can scrape some off and use it as a laundry detergent. You can use it to wash your body, hands and even your FACE. It gives a simple yet effective clean to anything. I'm not too crazy about the scent though, it kind of gives me a headache. It can also be used as a spot remover, how cool is that?!

Ivory is also affordable, its one of the cheapest soaps per ounce on the market! So hello value right there!  You can purchase Ivory at any mass retailer and for a 10 pack of bath bars its only $4.49! HELLO! Why did I not think of doing this before?!

I definitely say you all should go and try this!  Bring out the inner child!

Tip Tuesday : Superglue On Glasses

Yes, you read that correctly. Have you ever gotten superglue on your glasses? Yes, the ones you wear on your face.

Anyone?

Well, I always have had this issue with my glasses breaking near the bridge and since I don't have the money to get new frames, I always just superglue the area that broke, if it is able to be fixed that is. If it can't I just run to the store and buy a pair of frames that fit the size of the Lenses themselves. Why don't I do this everytime? Well, it can get kind of expensive. The frames that I am currently using are $20 frames! Thats crazy to go out and spend each time they break.

So, I've superglued them. I've done this since I was a Senior in high school. However, in the years that I've done this, I have gotten plenty of super glue on the lenses, normally just near the outside where I can't see it. So I shrug it off and let it go. However, my glasses broke a few days ago and I wound up getting superglue RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the lens. You better believe that annoyed me and I could not just let it alone. So I had to remove it.

I scoured Google looking for ideas, there weren't many. There was info on how to get it off your computer screen.. Really your computer screen?! and of course other place, but none for lenses that I saw. So I looked through my cabinets at what I had. 70% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol and nail polish remover. So, I grabbed a couple of cotton balls and went to work, at first just rubbing the alcohol over it, I was like WOO its gone! Then when I wiped them off and let them dry, that was not the case. So I rubbed and rubbed, alternating between the alcohol and the nail polish remover. The superglue started going away, thankfully, but I didn't want to be there for hours rubbing and rubbing. So, I took my trusty finger nail and just ran it over the glue, (while it was wet with alcohol) and it came right off!

Why I didn't go this right away, I have no idea. It came off and I was a happy camper.  All-in-all, this is a really handy tip if you get superglue on your glasses. I may be the only one to ever have this happen too, but hey, I am not made of money and can't go out and buy a new set of frames every few months when these break. =^_^=

I hope you all liked my Tip Tuesday this week! <3

Tip Tuesday : Cleaning tip!

Hey everyone, so sorry about no posts Sunday or Monday. There is just a lot going on over here and was not really up to typing them up. But today starts a new day and here is my Tip Tuesday!

So everyone has those baking pans (jelly roll pans, sheet pans, cake pans, cookie sheets, ETC.) that are so yucky looking that its embarrassing to pull them out or use them really because you just can't get them clean. Goodness knows my 2 jelly roll pans are like that! They are so yucky looking that its kinda sad. Granted that is how I got them from my Mom, but I thought that nothing would ever get the crap that was baked into them off.

The picture I am going to show you is the pan dirty, I wont lie, its pretty dirty and the stuff is kind of burned on to where I would have to soak it to get it off. Ick! I had the oven on too high lol. Oops!

Anyhoodles, you are only going to need 2 ingredients. These you can find in any kitchen and medicine cabinet.

You are only going to need 1/4 cup of Baking Soda and enough Hydrogen Peroxide (any percentage) to make it into a paste. Obviously you are going to need to mix this all in a bowl. :P

You can just mix it with your fingers and apply it to the pan with your fingers. Its really that easy!

Now, if you have little tough spots that are hard to come off, you can definitely use a toothbrush (one that no one uses) or a sponge with a scrubby pad. Goodness knows I used my fingers and the scrubby pad on the sponge. Oh my goodness! It was amazing! I never thought the pan would be shiny looking again!

You can let this sit for a little bit if you would like, but remember since its a paste it will wind up hardening. Also, the corners and the side are going to be the hardest part to clean, so be prepared to devote some time to cleaning this. Its not just going to come off as soon and you put it on. This pan needed some serious scrubbing. If you let this sit make sure you apply it a bit thick to the place where you want it to sit, that way it will not harden. It will loosen up the spots a bit more than if you were to just immediately scrub.

I cleaned "half" of it just so you can see the difference! How crazy is that!

I first saw this on Pinterest and I'm not sure who originally thought of this, but I wanted to try this out and just HAD TO SHARE this! It was awesome! Now you can use this to clean just about anything actually. You can use it on your stove, anything stainless steel, to remove hard water stains. It works on a lot needless to say.

All clean! Im not sure what that black spot is and it wont come off, but at least the pan does not look so gross! Now don't expect it all to come off. As you can tell in the bottom left corner there is still a spot there. The corners are very hard to clean, like I said before, but this one was extra hard to clean. I wound up giving up on this one and just called it a day. I am still extremely happy that the rest of the pan is not as gross as it was before.

I hope that you all try this on your dirty pans and like it!
