Revlon Just Bitten Lip stain & Balm Forbidden - Review

Purchased Myself

I was looking for reviews of this particular lip stain + balm, but there were practically NONE. So I'm making an assumption that this was not a popular color.
Forbidden from a packaging perspective looks it it would be a nice purple-y nude color. It indeed is a nude but on me it leans more purple-y red then anything. This balm would be perfect for Fall and Winter.
I don't know if these are supposed to give you complete color or just a little. I'm a newbie when it comes to lip stains, can you tell?
Forbidden while, it looks dark, only gives the lips a slight hint of color and that is with building it up. I didn't experience any feathering or bleeding with these on the lips, swatching them on the back of my hand is a different story altogether.
This is about 4-5 coats of the lipstain and as you can tell, it just barely tinted my bottom lip. Scent wise, this reminds me of a fruity wine.
The only thing I added was the balm and you can see that it does look more pigmented. So maybe the key is to use the balm with these. The balm itself doesn't have a scent to it that I noticed. I didn't find Forbidden to be drying, the balm does give extra moisture and shine.

With all of that being said, I'm not crazy impressed with these balms. The Lipstain+Balms retail for $7.99 (depending on your region) You can find this particular one on Clearance at CVS though for under $3.

  3. Oh lord girl you're too nice! Sometimes I hate my lips lol. I have to avoid lip plumpers or I look like a monkey. I've got another one that I'm going to review, but it's going to be kind of like this. In my opinion, these would definitely be a pass.

  4. I accidentally bought these before when I was meaning to get the Balm Stains (similar packaging but doesn't have the balm & stain separate) and was not a fan either. I HIGHLY recommend the balm stains though, they are one of my favorite lip products.

  6. I adore the balm stains, these are kind of...meh. They show my lip lines and dry patches like crazy, so the color looks really bad on me.

  7. I think it was your review that I saw about Flame. That's going to be my next review, but I totally agree with you. The two that I have just look really bad. D:

  8. The Balm Stains are the ones that I plan on getting next. The only reason that I picked this one and the other one that I plan on reviewing this week is because they were on clearance. For around $3 I couldn't deny them. Well, I probably should have actually. The balm stains look amazing though and right up my alley

  9. I tried these a while back and was not super impressed. I think they are just too dry for me.

  10. Forbidden wasn't as drying on my as Flame was. My lips were like a bloody desert with that one! I'm going to just skip the entire line and try the Balm Stains
