Tip Tuesday - Oily Skin

Heya !

So for those of you who don't know, I have oily skin. In some ways, its a good thing and in others, its more annoying. But I am here to get you some tips about oily skin!

№1 - You definitely need to moisturize oily skin. If you use a harsh cleanser on your face it will dry out and if you do not moisturize it, your skin will wind up producing even MORE oil than it had before. Just stay away from heavy moisturizers that contain shea butter and petrolatum. Those may cause excess sebum production for oily skin. That is a definite no-no right there. No extra oil needed!

№2 - You don't need to just oil free products. I thought that will oily skin, using products that were not oil free were bad for your skin and would clog pores and all of that gross stuff. Actually however, even though a product may say "Oil-Free" on it, there might be some type of oil lurking in the product anyways. So for oil skin I would look for something that says Shine Control or use products that help combat oil. Like blotting papers.

№3 - You do NOT need to use a toner or an astringent to balance skin. For me personally I never used a toner or an astringent. I always felt like they dried out my skin. Weird huh? Well, all skin types can use a toner but for oily skin it would be best to just use it on the "T-Zone". For me I use a Glycolic Acid toner and it helps to cut through the oil and grease that my face produces. Its fantastic!

Other tips for oily skin is if you have a true oily skin use a cleanser that contains Salicylic Acid, it will help reduce the oil production. I would also definitely carry around blotting sheets if you worry about your oily skin through the day. They can be a life saver sometimes!

Don't forget to MOISTURIZE your skin! By moisturizing daily, you will regulate your oil production so it doesn’t overproduce oil.
