Counter Girls - Book Review

This book was given to me for free for my honest review. I am receiving no compensation nor am I affiliated with the Author. All opinions are 100% my own.

Hey everyone! I honestly meant to get this book review up in the beginning of April. One thing led to another, then I planned to do it earlier in the week and if my allergies don't calm down, it's going to be no bueno. It's bad enough that I almost had to go to the hospital yesterday, it was NASTY. Enough about that though. Lets boogie on down and get into this review!

Counter Girls is a fictional novel that was written by a makeup artist and counter girl herself. The book is described as witty, hilarious and it is a dramatic take on the lives of the makeup artists who work at makeup counters! This book says that is is geared towards TEENS/YOUNG ADULTS.  Myself personally, I would NOT let anyone under the age of 18 read this. But I will get into my reasoning later.

I did enjoy this book. I really liked reading and imagining what goes on at busy makeup counters in department stores. All of the makeup counters in my mall are rarely busy so there is like 3 people for the entire makeup department. So it was exciting for me to read about a busy counter where there is competition among each of the people working there. The Drama etc that happened really kept you on your toes and made you wonder about what was going to happen next.

Since THAT is what I was expecting with the book, it being about makeup, imagine my surprise when the sex parts in the book came up! There were quite a few and they weren't short. That's why I don't recommend this book for anyone under the age of 18. The sex parts of the book themselves are graphic to a point. I don't really mind the words so much, but honestly it made me feel a little uncomfortable.

I read a couple of passages to Chris and he kind of chuckled honestly and didn't say much. I let my Mom read a paragraph and she was NOT enthused. I probably picked the wrong page. At the same time, my Mom is not into books like that at all. So I definitely understand where she is coming from.

Like I said earlier, I really did enjoy the book. Since this book doesn't state the graphic nature of certain parts, I would definitely say it's no bueno to let someone under 18 to read it. That's just my personal opinion though. The makeup aspect of the book got me pretty excited, because I'm crazy and love makeup!

You can purchase Counter girls as a paperback for $9.95 On Amazon
You can also purchase this for your Amazon Kindle / Nook / Direct From The Author / Smashwords
(I got mine on Smashwords)

If you are into books that pretty much have two different themes than this is the book for you! It was a bit all over the place for me personally, but I still enjoyed it.
