Petco Calming Cat Treats

I purchased myself
Hello!

I purchased these treats before the 4th of July because where we moved a lot of people light off fireworks. Not only that BUT when they get lit off it sounds like they are right next to the house (when they aren't). It's not Anya's first 4th but I didn't want her to freak out or get stressed. She was already having panic attacks to the point she was attacking and scratching us because she was scared. Honestly, I have been at a loss for what to do for her. So of course I naturally take to the internet and Google. Upon googling I decided to find something calming for her. I considered a diffuser that you plus into the wall but honestly $50-$60 for it when I'm not even sure if it will work!? That's crazy, plus the refills were expensive too. Super lame.

So one trip to Petco (that is the pet store I prefer) and searching the cat isle Chris and I found these. We figured what the heck why not give it a try! They were around $3-$4. (I don't remember and they're not listed on the website)

The chews are Chicken flavored and have very minimal ingredients.
Brewers yeast, Fish Oil, Flaxseed Meal, Glycerin, Lecithin, Natural Flavoring, Oat Groats, Rice Bran, Rice Flour, Sorbic Acid and Vegetable Oil.

The active ingredients in the treats are L-Tryptophan (50 mg) Chamomile (6 mg) and Thiamine (6 mg). The mg's are per 2 soft chews. The 2 chews are the suggested amount to give your cat. The package also states that you should give them to your cat 30 minutes prior to the episode that causes stress on the nervous system.
What I tend to do is when she does have an episode I give them to her the 30 minutes after, but when there is a storm that is another story. When it's insanely stormy (like it has been in Florida the entire month) when the storm starts to get bad I will give her the 1-2 treats when I can see her starting to get antsy.
The first time I gave her the treats it actually freaked me out. Why? Because they made Anya calm and nice. If you have ever seen my Instagram pictures or heard me talk about Anya (or know her personally) you know that is so not her. Now, she is not a bad or mean cat. She is a Tortoiseshell, so she has a very strong possessive personality. So her being calm is actually rare.
I didn't notice any adverse effects with these. They calmed her down and they last a pretty long time. I don't have to give them to her daily. With the use of the treats I have actually found that she has been a lot more calm and nice. She's not too fond of my Niece or Nephew (long story) and she actually can stand to be around them now, which is nice. I definitely do recommend these treats if you have a cat who seems nervous, stressed or tense. The other reason we got them is because of the change in environment. We just recently moved and it's stressed her out and we're going to be moving again soon so I am definitely going to make sure I have these on hand for that!

You can find these treats at Petco. They're not available online, but there are other brands on Petco's website. $3-$4 for 60 chews is a nice value because they will last a while because you can give your cat 1 or 2 treats.

I purchased these with my own money.
